Project Operation

The Integrated Wastewater Management Project has three major components:

  1. the marketing and commercialisation of services in wastewater management for potential clients and strategically important partners
  2. the improvement of SRC’s capacity for effective and sustainable delivery of technology-based know-how and services with regard to wastewater management
  3. the provision of client, with market oriented solutions for wastewater management

The following type of projects have been carried out so far with the agro-industry and municipal sectors. The main aim of these projects is to demonstrate the treatability of wastewater through the adaptation of known treatment technologies and to optimise these technologies under Jamaican conditions:

  • Anaerobic demonstration plant for the treatment of sugar wastewater
  • Anaerobic treatment of wastewater (dunder) from distilleries
  • Treatment of wastewater from the coffee industry
  • Enhancing the performance of a wastewater treatment plant at a hotel
  • Enhancing the performance of a wastewater treatment plant at the dairy industry
  • Comparison of anaerobic and aerobic treatment of sewage through pilot scale studies (download file src_wmi.pdf )Researd
